My Story

Hi, I’m Haily Jane — the artist behind Painted by Haily Jane.

I’m an artist and art educator based in Bowling Green, Ohio, with a BFA in Art and a lifelong love of painting. I’ve always been someone who cares deeply about the details, the effort people put into showing up for one another, and the beauty found in everyday moments. Color, creativity, and meaningful connection are at the center of both my artwork and my life.

I discovered live event painting while planning my own wedding with my fiancé, Sam, and immediately fell in love with the idea of turning meaningful moments into art. Today, I specialize in live guest portraits because I believe the people who gather to celebrate with you are what make your event truly special.

When I’m not painting or teaching, you can usually find me reading, working out with Sam, or spending time with friends and family — the people who inspire so much of the care and intention I bring to my work.

Do guests have to pose and wait to be painted?

No. We simply take a quick photo of any guest who stops by and is interested in receiving a portrait. The sketch and painting are created from that photo, so guests are free to enjoy your event or stay and watch the artwork come to life. Finished portraits are placed in protective sleeves and displayed at the front of the table for guests to pick up at their convenience or before they leave.

How long does it take you to complete one painting?

One portrait featuring two figures takes about 8 minutes. Rates are determined by the number of guests and the length of your event.

What happens if there isn’t enough time to paint every guest?

Any remaining portraits will be completed in my studio and delivered to the primary client within two weeks of the event. Perfect for sending out with thank you cards!

What are the space and setup requirements?

All that is needed on your end is a standard rectangular table and two chairs. The table should be placed in an area where guests can easily access the portrait station throughout the event. I provide all necessary materials, including custom signage with clearly framed directions for guests.

You are welcome to add décor to the table to match your event, but a portion of the space will need to remain open to display completed portraits so guests can easily view and pick them up.

Do you provide live paintings of the venue or the couple?

At this time, I specialize exclusively in live guest portraits. A complimentary 5×7 portrait of the couple is always included and is completed in the same style as the guest portraits.

Do you travel outside of Northwest Ohio?

Yes, travel fees do apply. Inquire today to learn more!

What do I need to do to reserve my date?

Start by submitting an inquiry through my website to check availability and receive pricing information. I will respond to your email, answer any questions you may have, and send over a contract and invoice. Once those are completed, your date will be reserved and the art-making can begin!
